Sulphuric acid is made from pyrite, from other metal sulphides or from gases containing sulphur. Sulphuric acid is among the most important base materials in chemical process technology and is needed in great quantities worldwide by all industrial states.
In sulphuric acid production vertical and horizontal centrifugal pumps move liquid sulphur and also dilute and concentrated acids, which along with SO2 and SO3 can also contain solids, at different temperatures. Normal standardised materials will only withstand the enormous stresses due to corrosion and abrasion to a limited extent.
Rheinhütte Pumpen has available special alloys, which offer long term resistance to these effects. Good collaboration with well known plant constructers plus our own research allows us, to adapt the existing material range optimally and quickly to the constantly changing requirements.
