Rheinhütte Pumpen has added its extensive pump programme – based on metals, plastics and ceramics – to a new material. With the new composite material Polymercarbid you now have even more flexibility in the choice of materials – especially in particularly difficult applications with chemically aggressive media.
Polymercarbid is especially available for our free-flow pumps CPRF and RCFKu and can be used up to a temperature of 150 °C.
A POWERFUL COMPOSITION
Polymercarbid = VE resin + silicon carbide
Polymercarbid is a composite material with a high proportion of silicon carbide (SiC) which is embedded in vinyl ester (VE) resin. The manufacturing process ensures a pore-free and very homogeneous structure. This results a compact and highly wear-resistant material whose extreme hardness is just below that of diamonds.
ADVANTAGES AT A GLANCE
Due to its extreme hardness (up to 9.7 Mohs) Polymercarbid is highly wear resistant in solid-loaded fluids. With its superior resistance to solids this material is clearly superior to all plastics – even UHMW polyethylene, all metallic materials and also many ceramic materials.
HIGHLY CORROSION RESISTANT
Especially in applications where corrosive fluids like hydrochloric acid is pumped, Polymercarbid shows superior chemical resistance. In alkaline and fluoride media this high performance material meets the highest demands too.
